WKSM specialise in dry cupping therapy using silicone RockPods. The pods provide suction to decompress the underlying tissue through pulling and lifting the tissue to create space in the subcutaneous area and stress the collagen fibres. This is different to manual massage therapy as the therapist is not pushing into the body, instead they are pulling away.
Dry cupping can be offered as a stand alone treatment but is more beneficial when incorporated into a massage treatment. The pods can leave red circular marks on the skin (called ecchymosis) due to the dilation of capillaries, which can last for up to two weeks. However, these red marks are not painful and are not permanent.
